Canucks In The Community – Street Hockey Classic

The Calgary Canucks were in the community on Sunday afternoon, May 7th.  Scott Nicholson and Braydon Jenkins of the Canucks were proud to attend the seventh annual Shawnessy Boston Pizza – Street Hockey Classic, which took place at the Shawnessy Shopping Centre in south Calgary.

The event is geared towards people of all ages, and features 32 different hockey teams playing street hockey as an annual fundraiser.  Proceeds from the event go towards the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program, which helps kids in financial need participate in organized sport, by assisting with costs associated with various sports.  The Canadian Tire in Shawnessy is also a major contributor to this special event, as is many of the other shops and vendors of the Shawnessy Shopping Centre.

The Canucks players were very happy to contribute to the event, by making their way around the kids zone, and signing autographs for the young girls and boys in attendance.

The Calgary Canucks hockey club is very committed to community endeavours throughout the calendar year.  Even when the hockey season is complete, the boys enjoy dedicating volunteer time out in the community, and helping with various important causes in the great city of Calgary.
