The Calgary Canucks are pleased to announce that 1996 – born forward and assistant captain Matt Painchaud has committed to UNLV for the 2017-2018 season. UNLV plays in the ACHA.
“When Matt arrived last year he instantly became one of our leaders. We are very excited that Matt was able to get a commitment from UNLV,” states President Pat Loyer. “They are getting a player with a lot of passion and character. Good things happen to good people and Matt’s hard work has paid off. We are excited for him to get this opportunity!”
The Canucks acquired Matt Painchaud from La Ronge Ice Wolves prior to the start of the 2016-2017 season. During his time with the Canucks, Painchaud made the most of his time on the ice scoring 17 goals and putting up 35 assists for a total of 52 points in 52 games.
Matt is the 8th Canuck player off last year’s roster to get a post-secondary commitment.
The Calgary Canucks organization would like to congratulate Matt and his family on this accomplishment and wish him all the best on and off the ice next season.
