CHAD SHIEL NAMED GENERAL MANAGER
For Immediate Release
Monday, July 28 2014

The Calgary Canucks are pleased to announce that Chad Shiel has been named the General Manager of the team effective immediately.  He takes the reigns from Ryan Barrett who will be able to focus on his role as Head Coach of the team.

“I am very honoured and excited for this opportunity,” said Shiel.  “I firmly believe that with my past experience, contacts, and our current and new additions to our staff, that the Calgary Canucks organization can be one of the first choice programs for players to continue to develop their skills both as hockey players and as people. I look forward to working with our current and future players on achieving their goals of playing post-secondary hockey in the NCAA or in Canada”.

Shiel is an AJHL alumnus who has been involved in many aspects of high level hockey, including, player development, strength & conditioning and scouting.  In 2012, he co-founded Evolution Hockey out of Chestermere Alberta. Evolution trains and develops some of the top junior, college and pro players in the game today. Through his many years in hockey he has developed solid relationships with many top level NCAA, Canadian Universities and professional teams in the US. Shiel is looking forward to being the driving force in re-establishing the Calgary Canucks as one of the premier Junior A Hockey organizations in Canada.

The new General Manager will meet with current players this week and evaluate their fitness before the beginning of training camp on August 18 at Max Bell.
