Game Recap – February 9, 2016

In the first period the Canucks had their socks pulled up and played hard. After 10 minutes of play, neither team had scored. Both teams made the game exciting by having two players head to the penalty box – #9 Ben Assad of the Canucks went to the box for diving and #4 Tristan Thompson of the Bandits was in for hooking. Shortly after #16 Jared Cockrell put the puck into the back of the Canucks net, assisted by #8 Cale Makar and #22 Parker Foo. Following the Bandits goal, #26 Nolan Carothers gave the Bandits another power play as he went into the box for slashing. The first period ended at 1-0 for the Brooks Bandits, with 4 shots on goal for the Canucks and 12 shots on goal for the Bandits.

The second period began with the Canucks looking for a goal. The Canucks came out to play in the second period and got a power play as #11 Jeff Malott went to the box for holding. After 5 minutes and 41 seconds of play into the second, the Bandits scored their second goal by #16 Jared Cockrell. The Bandits added another goal putting them up 3-0, with a goal scored by #13 Josh McKechney. After 20 more minutes of play the second period ended with the Bandits up 3-0. Shots on goal for the Canucks were 11 and for the Bandits 22.

The Canucks came into the third period trying to make something happen and get that puck into the Bandits net. Canucks started out with a power play as #22 Parker Foo from the Bandits headed to the box for interference. Soon following that the Canucks had another power play opportunity and a chance to get a goal as #8 Cale Makar took a penalty for slashing. The Bandits get a power play of their own as #9 Ben Assad went to the box for roughing. On the power play the Bandits scored increasing their lead to 4-0 with a hat trick goal from #16 Jared Cockrell. With 38 seconds left in the game, #21 Kyler Magus put the puck into the back of the Bandits goal. The final score was 4-1 for the Bandits, with 22 shots on goal for the Canucks and 27 for the Bandits.

Players of the game went to Canucks #21 Kyler Magus and the Bandits #16 Jared Cockrell.

The Canucks are hitting the road for their next few games starting with Olds Grizzlys on Friday, February 12th and then head to Canmore to take on the Eagles on Saturday February 13th. Go Canucks Go!
