Calgary Canucks to Voluntarily Restrict Attendance
Team supports efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19 in Calgary

Calgary, Alberta:  The Calgary Canucks Jr. A Hockey Club announced today that they would begin voluntarily reducing fan attendance to their home games to support the Province's tighter restrictions on indoor gatherings and amid the City's pleas for even more stringent measures.

The Calgary Canucks are a member of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), and as such, have been operating under the protocols created for University, Junior and Professional sport.  While the team has been strictly adhering to the guidance to allow for 100 fans in the building, it felt the recent rise in cases in the Calgary area warranted additional action.

"The Calgary Canucks have supported the interests of Calgarians for 50 years. As such, we remain committed to putting the community first and are supporting Mayor Nenshi's request to ‘do the right thing now’ to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus," said Sandy Edmonstone, Governor of the Canucks. "By joining others who are taking similar steps, we hope to contribute to reducing the impact of the pandemic on the community and emerge from it as quickly as possible."

The team will temporarily stop selling tickets to the public for their upcoming games and restrict attendance to parents and billets of the Canucks players, media, NHL, and NCAA scouts.  This will allow the club to be below 50 fans per game.  Games will continue to be viewable on HockeyTV.com.

The Calgary Canucks play out of the Ken Bracko Arena at Max Bell Centre, capable of seating over 2200 fans for hockey.  They are currently celebrating their 50th year in the AJHL and have seen a resurgence of community interest.
