Season Outlook

With the start of the 2017-2018 season just 2 days away the final preparations are taking place to make sure everything is in order when the boys hit the ice on Sunday.

After a solid pre-season start going 4-1 though exhibition, the team will be looking to carry this forward as regular season starts.  “Being new to the league there will be lots of learning for me early in the season,” states Head Coach Colin Birkas when asked about the start the season. “Getting lots of new players on the same page early is key.”

With 11 players eligible to return from last year’s team, as well as top-notch prospects and new acquisitions the team is in good shape heading into the season, it will just be a matter of finding the right combinations on the ice. “Depth will be our strength,” notes Birkas, “Pat Loyer loaded the cupboards with players and prospects”.

“Players getting to know me and new expectations is critical,” Birkas adds.  “The Canucks have been a first class operation since I got here and it has been a really good experience for me so far.  I am excited to get going!”
