Weekly Recap: November 13 ? November 19

After a week off the Canucks hit the ice on Saturday evening for a match up against the Olds Grizzlys. Things started off in favour of the Grizzlys as #10 Zach Erhardt scored a power play goal  at 10:42 of the first from #23 Cody Laskosky and #3 Austin Pickford. While the Canucks battled hard in the first they were unable to even things up.  Shots at the end of the period were 13-11.  In the second the Grizzlys expanded their lead by two to take a 3-0 lead.  #21 Jeremy Klessens scored the Grizzlys second goal from #20 Josh Borynec. At 15:32 of the second the Grizzlys got their third of the game from #23 Cody Laskosky, assisted by #17 Jared Power and #24 Hayden Struik.  With 1:06 remaining in the second #25 Zach Webb scored his first as a Canucks to make it 3-1, with help from #28 Chad Varney and #7 Michael Clarke.  In the third things didn’t go the Canucks way even though they outshot the Grizzlys 16-9.  At 18:05 #23 Cody Laskosky scored on the power play to make it 4-1 Grizzlys from #17 Jared Power and #10 Zach Erhardt.  #7 Chase Olsen scored another for the Grizzlys on the power play with help from #24 Hayden Struik and #14 Quentin Greenwood. The game ended with the Grizzlys leading 5-1.  Final shots on net were 40-34 Canucks.

Sunday the Canucks hosted a game in Strathmore against the Okotoks Oilers. The Canucks were first to strike with just 17 seconds left in the period as #11 Alex Wilkins put one in the back of the net from #23 Mark Drohan and #19 Zach Russell.  In the second the Oilers evened up the game with a goal from #23 Tanner Laderoute, assisted by #18 Carter Huber and #7 Nick Blankenburg.  At 15:44 the Oilers took the lead with a goal from #4 Dylan Holloway and #26 Hoon Kim. After racking up 17 shots in the period the Canucks were unable to tie up the game.  In the third though the Canucks gave it their all but were unable to make the comeback.  Final score was 2-1 Oilers. 

Up next, the Canucks visit their cross town rivals on Tuesday night when they face off against the Calgary Mustangs.  Then the boys will be in Brooks Friday night for a match up against the Bandits, before taking on the Whitecourt Wolverines at Max Bell Centre on Saturday, game time 5:00pm.
