Calgary Canucks Announce 3-Year Contract Extension for Coach Moran – Will Assume Combined Head Coach and General Manager Duties

Calgary, Alberta:  Today the Calgary Canucks Jr. A Hockey Club announced they have entered into a 3-year agreement with Brad Moran to serve as Coach and General Manager.  Moran took over the team as Head Coach in November 2018, replacing Darryl Olsen, and led the Canucks to triple the number of wins over the remaining portion of the season.  That momentum carried over to a strong first-round playoff showing against the Okotoks Oilers.

The signing of Coach Moran marks another milestone in the Canucks off-season changes and investments.  There is a renewed sense of stability which is driving more interest in the team overall, and has manifested in additional player interest, increased inquiries about season tickets, and more discussions about sponsor involvement.

“There are few matches that are as perfect as Brad and the Canucks,” said Arthur Yasinski, President and Chairman.  “His hockey legacy in Calgary is well-known, and to have a coach and individual of his caliber is something that we are all very excited about.  His commitment to our rebuilding efforts should send a very strong message about our future.”

Those sentiments are shared by Coach Moran.  “Calgary is my home, and I have so many fond memories of my experiences here and with the fans. I look forward to the challenges ahead of me and the team, and share in the Board’s excitement about what the future holds. I hope every person who has wondered about Junior A hockey makes the time to come out and see the talent that these young gentlemen bring to the ice every day.”
