Canucks Acquire Tanaka and Giacomin from the Canmore Eagles

The Canucks have acquired 1998-born defenceman Adamu Tanaka and 2000-born forward Justin Giacomin from the Canmore Eagles in exchange for defenceman Mark Drohan.

Tanaka has played for the Canmore Eagles for the last three seasons, where he was able to rack up 39 points over the course of his time with the Eagles.  Last season, he had 10 points in 39 games with the team.   Coach Oly had this to say regarding the acquisition of Tanaka, ?Adamu is a steady stay at home D man that will be a huge leader on the back end to our youth. He has a calming effect on the back end and can play in any situation.?

Giacomin, younger brother of former Canucks forward Josh Giacomin, will be joining the Canucks offensive squad.  In his rookie season with the Eagles, Justin had 1 goal and 4 assists for a total of 5 points in 50 games with the team.  ?Justin is a competitor, a high intensity kind of a kid that will bring a spark to our club,? notes Coach Oly regarding Giacomin. ?He is entering his second year in the AJHL and we are expecting him to come in and be a leader and showcase his talents and have an explosive year.?

The Canucks would like to thank Mark and his family for their time with the Canucks and wish them all the best next season.

The Canucks would like to welcome Adamu and Justin, along with their families to the Canucks organization.

Welcome to the Canucks Adamu and Justin!
