Calgary, Alberta – Saturday, April 6th, 2024: The Calgary Canucks have secured their place in the 2024 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Finals after defeating the Drumheller Dragons 3-2 on Friday night. 

The Canucks wrap up their semi-finals series four games to one against the Dragons, advancing to their first AJHL finals appearance since 1999.

In game five, played home at Ken Bracko Arena the Canucks found themselves tied 2-2 late in the third period. With 2:48 remaining, Ethan Short scored the game-winning goal and his third of the series, securing the victory for the Canucks.

“Making the finals is a great achievement for our organization and I’m very proud of what our players have accomplished so far,” says Head Coach Brad Moran, “They have bought in and been focused on what we need to do, As a group they have been able to rise to the occasion game after game.” 

“It is the best time of year to be playing as the atmosphere in Ken Bracko continues to grow. It’s something these players will never forget. We are excited to get back at it again next weekend.” Moran said about the crowd at Ken Bracko, semifinals game five saw their best turnout this postseason with 1447 fans in attendance. 

The Canucks have some time to prepare for the finals as they wait for the winner between the Whitecourt Wolverines and Canmore Eagles semi-finals series. 

Calgary will head into their thirteenth finals appearance, and have their sights set on the tenth AJHL Championship.
