The Canucks head into the final month of the season after starting the new year 3-6-2.
January 1st at Brooks Bandits
Canucks started the new year off on the wrong foot, as they fall 13-0 in Brooks.
January 4th vs Grande Prairie Storm
Easton Inglis got the scoring started halfway into the first period for the Canucks before the Strom took over the game in the second period with 3 goals. Leading 3-1 into the third, the Strom added another tally to make 4-1. Inglis scored his second of the game but the Strom would win this game 5-2.
January 8th at Blackfalds Bulldogs
Dylan Clark started the scoring in Blackfalds late in the first period, but just over three minutes later the Bulldogs would respond on the man advantage to tie up the game before the end of the period. In a 1-1 tie in the second, the Bulldogs would add another powerplay goal and score two more times in the third to win the game 4-1.
January 12th vs Sherwood Park Crusaders
With under seven to play at Ken Bracko Arena, Blake Setter found the tying goal for his team to send this game into overtime. A shootout was needed to decide this game with Justin Barker and Daniel Rozsival scoring in the shootout to win their first of the new year 2-1.
January 15th vs Whitecourt Wolverines
Back-to-back games needed the shootout after the Canucks would tie up the game from Matt Corbet in the second period. Unfortunately, the Canucks would have to settle for one point with the Wolverines winning the shootout.
January 16th at Brooks Bandits
After not finding the back of the net in the last meeting with the Bandits, Justin Barker would score a hat trick, with Aidin Moore chipping in for a goal of his, but the firepower wasn’t enough for the Canucks as the Bandits would score seven.
January 21st at Fort McMurray Oil Barons
Canucks continued the road trip with a stop in Fort McMurray but would leave unsatisfied as the Oil Barons took a 7-1 win. Aidin Moore found the lone Canucks goal.
January 22nd at Sherwood Park Crusaders
The Canucks were ready for the third stop on the road trip, jumping up to a 4-1 lead from four different goal scorers in Blake Setter, Aidan Moore, Justin Barker, and Matt Corbet. The Canucks were ready to pick up a much-needed win heading into the final period of play. Ty McRuvie would add a pair of goals in the final 20, and Conner Martin was solid stopping 33 of 34 shots.
January 23rd at Spruce Grove Saints
After a scoreless first period, the Saints exploded for five goals in the second and added two more for the home team, as the Saints would win the game 7-1. Dylan Price was the solo Canucks goal in the third period.
January 29th vs Olds Grizzlys
The Canucks returned to Ken Bracko arena to host the Olds Grizzleys after the four-game road trip. Dylan Price and Aidan Moore got the home crowd into it, jumping up to 2-1 one lead after one period of play. Easton Inglis added the third Canucks goal , edging Olds 3-2 for the Win.
January 30th vs Drayton Valley Thunder
Two goals for Easton Inglis and one goal each from Matthew Brunton and Matt Corbet would see the Canucks up 4-1 on the Thunder late in the third period. But the Thunder would rally back with 3 goals with under two to play to send this game into Overtime. Canucks would walk away with a point after the Thunder took this game 5-4.
Player of the Month
Aidan Moore scored 3 goals and 6 points in the month of January, including a 3 game goal streak.
