AJHL Showcase Recap

The Calgary Canucks returned with a win and a loss from the AJHL showcase in Canmore. The team started the roadtrip with a close 2:1 win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. The game was fast paced with good chances on both times. Although the Canucks fell back 1:0 in the first, the team was able to turn the score aound in the second. With no score in the third, 2:1 was the final score of the game. Throughout the first game, both teams were able to put up quality chances. Goaltending was the difference maker in this game.

The second game started off tough for the Canucks. The team were assessed three minor penalties in the first half of the first period. A strong Pontiacs team was able to put up a 1:0 lead. The Canucks were able to pick up the pace following the three minor penalties. They were not able to get one on the score board in the first. 1:0 was the score heading into the second period. In the second period, a strong Pontiacs team was able to expand the lead to 5:1 over the Canucks. The Canucks were able to match the pace of the game in the third. However, the were unable to force a comeback as the Pontiacs put one more on the board to make 6:1 the final score.

The Canucks will play their next game at home on October 7 when they host the Brook Bandits.
