The Brooks Bandits winning streak stretched to 17 games with a dominating effort over the Calgary Canucks.
The Bandits scored three goals in the first 11:37 of the first period and the Canucks coul;d not recover.
The Canucks came out flat, and Mark Reners made the team pay by opening the scoring for the Brooks Bandits just 1:03 into the first period by banking in a rebound shot after a scramble in front of the net.
The Canucks did not get many opportunites to respond to the goal as the Bandits carried the play and at 10:04 of the first, the Bandits made it a 2-0 lead as Reners scored his second goal of the game, firing a shot through a crowd in front of the net, and through the goaltender.
The game became 3-0 at the 11:37 mark of the first period when Nick Newman potted home a goal.
The second period saw both teams get limited chances. No goals were scored.
The Canucks finally broke through and scored a goal at 8:13 of the third period when Derek Thorogood blasted a hard shot past Michael Fredrick.
Hopes of a comeback were dashed 89 seconds later at 9:42 of the third when Taylor Makin completed a pretty passing play from Cam Maclise to make the gsme 4-1.
The Canucks fate was sealed 2:07 later when Anthony Petruzelli scored his 15th goal of the season to make the game 5-1.
The Canucks Zach Dietrich scored a Powerplay goal with 29 seconds remaining for his first AJHL marker. That made the final 5-2 Bandits.
