November 30 Game Welcomes Ukraine U13 Wings Girls Team
Calgary, Alberta (Monday, November 25, 2024): The Calgary Canucks are excited to announce a unique partnership with Wickfest and CanWaCH for a special hockey game at the Max Bell Centre, celebrating community spirit and sportsmanship. This event will take place on Saturday, November 30th, with a 5:00 PM face-off against the Devon Xtreme.
The game will feature a pre-game ceremony that proudly welcomes the Ukraine U13 Wings Girls team. This young and talented group will not only showcase their skills on the ice but also remind us of the power of sports in bringing communities together.
Highlighting the event will be a pregame ceremony featuring Canadian hockey legend Hayley Wickenheiser. A four-time Olympic gold medalist and seven-time World Champion, Wickenheiser is a trailblazer in women’s hockey and a role model for aspiring athletes. Her dedication to the sport and her advocacy for women’s participation in sports has inspired countless young players.
Joining Wickenheiser for this special moment will be the honorable Lois Mitchell, an accomplished businesswoman and a dedicated community volunteer in Calgary. As a longstanding member of Alberta’s community corps, Mitchell’s contributions have made a significant impact in various sectors. Her commitment to fostering community initiatives aligns perfectly with the values of the Calgary Canucks, Wickfest, and CanWaCH.
“We are thrilled to host this special event that not only highlights the incredible talent of young athletes but also celebrates the spirit of community and inclusivity,” said Lyle Peterman, Board Member and Chair of Game Day Operations with the Calgary Canucks. “We invite everyone to join us for an evening of hockey, camaraderie, and inspiration.”
