Canucks Finalize Coaching Staff

Coming off our recent hiring of Head Coach Colin Birkas, the Calgary Canucks are pleased to announce that we have finalized our coaching staff for the upcoming 2017-2018 season.  Joining Birkas on the Bench as Assistant Coaches will be Darryl Olsen and Jason Hanna.

Coming on board for his first season with the team, Darryl Olsen joins us after spending last season with the Drumheller Dragons where he held positions as the Assistant Coach and Interim Head Coach and GM.   Prior to taking the position in Drumheller, Olsen spent 8 years coaching the Midget AAA (16U and 18U) Utah Jr. Grizzlies of the NJPHL. Olsen also owns a business providing power skating and skill instruction to individuals and teams.

With 7 years of AJHL experience under his belt, Hanna will return to the Canucks for his second season with the team.   Previously, Hanna worked as an Assistant Coach for the Calgary Mustangs before joining the Okotoks Oilers as an Assistant/Video Coach for the Okotoks Oilers. Before becoming a coach, Hanna spent time with the Amherst Ramblers of the MHL where they won back-to-back titles.

Kevin Sajinovic will also be returning for his fifth season as Goaltending Coach for the Calgary Canucks.  When not with the team Sajinovic works full time as a Goaltending Consultant with GDI.

President Pat Loyer will assume the GM duties for the 2017-2018 season.
