The Calgary Canucks are pleased to announce that 1996 – born defenceman and assistant captain Allan MacPherson has committed to Mount Royal University for the 2017-2018 season.
“We are very excited for Allan to commit to Mount Royal University. When we acquired Allan two years ago he made an instant impact and was a big part of the success we enjoyed as a team,” states Canucks President Pat Loyer. “Allan was a great leader and was a big part of the positive culture change with the program. Allan will be remembered as a great player and person in his time here with the Canucks and we wish him all the best with the Cougars.”
MacPherson was acquired by the Canucks at the start of the 2015-2016. In his two seasons with the team MacPherson played 111 games putting up 10 goals and 52 assists. Allan also received the team’s Top Defenceman Award two years in a row and was also the recipient of the +/- Award at the end of last season. MacPherson was also named as a finalist for the W.G. Scott Memorial Trophy as league’s Top Defenceman and was named to the 2016-2017 Viterra South Division All-League Team.
