The Canucks opened their 2013-14 season with an exhibition win over the Canmore Eagles by a score of 4 to 0. Goal scorers for the Canucks were Matt Rypien, Braeden Backley, Michael Janz and Andrew McCann. The goals by Beckley and McCann were power play goals while Janz’s goal was scored on a penalty shot on a real nice deek and back hand into the top corner. The goaltending was split between Andrew Lohin who faced 14 shots and Graysen Sharp who faced 13 shots. The Canucks outshot the Eagles by a margin of 39 to 27. The Canucks power play was 2 for 6 and the penalty kill was 6 for 6. The Canucks dressed mostly a rookie squad with only two veterans in the line up.
Next up for the Canucks will be during their Pre-season tournament being held at Max Bell Arena this weekend. They will play the Olds Grizzlys Friday night at 7:00 PM, the same Canmore Eagles Saturday evening at 7:00 PM and the Calgary Mustangs Sunday afternoon at 5:00 PM.
See you all at Max Bell this weekend.
