PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Canucks set for the first round of playoffs!

Round one of the Gas Drive AJHL Playoffs is a few days away, and the Canucks are getting ready to hit the ice against the Okotoks Oilers.  During regular season play the Canucks took the head- to-head series versus the Oilers 4-2.

The Canucks have had a strong second half of the season and are looking to build off this as they enter the playoffs. “We are all very excited to be playing in the playoffs this year, and very proud of the guys in the dressing room for accomplishing this goal. Before the last 20 game segment we discussed what we needed to do and what we needed to accomplish in order to make the playoffs and we got complete buy in from everyone and everyone was able to elevate their play allowing us to go 12-7-1 in our last 20 games. We are playing our best hockey of the year right now and that serves us pretty well heading into the playoffs, but we are not naive to the task that lies ahead for us, Okotoks is a very good team and we must remain committed, disciplined, and continue to believe in one another and what we can accomplish together in order to have success in the upcoming series,” said Head Coach Jay Pylypuik when asked about the upcoming playoffs.

Canucks captain Chandler Irvin is looking forward to the upcoming playoff matchup, “I am most excited about being back in this position as a 20 year old and as a leader to the players who have not been in the playoffs before. It's a special time and a great rivalry with Okotoks. I'm excited for my team mates and for all of them to experience the best part about playing hockey. The rush will be there and to say I'm excited is an understatement!”

The Calgary Canucks are pleased to be entering the playoffs for the first time in 4 years. This is one of the first steps in rebuilding the Canucks organization and will set the foundations when we return to Max Bell Centre for the 2016-2017 season.

Come on out and cheer on the Canucks in the first round of playoffs!
