Tough Weekend: Two Losses Despite Good Effort

After losing a close game to the division leading Camrose Kodiaks Friday night, the Calgary Canucks were looking to get a win against the Drayton Valley Thunder on Saturday night. The Canucks, playing their second game in two days, fell back late in the third. 2:0 was the score after the first in favour of the Thunder after they beat the horn by a second to increase the lead before the break. The Canucks did not let this discourage them and came back in the second. Scott and Ehret scored to tie the game after 40 minutes. This promised an exciting third period coming up. Both teams were battling hard with the Thunder scoring twice in the first 10 minutes of the third period. The Canucks kept batling in an effort to tie the game. Scott decreased the lead to 4:3, scoring his second of the game, with just under two minutes left in the game. As a result, the Canucks pulled the goalie and threw everying they had at the Thunder netminder. Unfortunately, their efforts were not rewarded as Drayton Valley hung on to the tight lead and won the game 4:3.

The Calgary Canucks played two close games and are now looking to get 2 points when they host the Grande Prairie Storm this Wednesday, November 25. Puck Drop is at 7:00 PM.
